Nestled along the lush southwestern coast of India, Kerala is known as “God’s Own Country”—a land of serene backwaters, vibrant culture, and rich culinary traditions. The cuisine of Kerala is deeply rooted in its coastal geography, with fresh seafood and coconut taking center stage in most dishes.

From fragrant fish curries simmered in coconut milk to fried prawns, the flavors are bold yet balanced—layered with spices like turmeric, mustard seeds, curry leaves, and a signature touch of tang from tamarind or raw mango. Whether it’s a comforting salmon molly (fish in spiced coconut gravy) or a fiery chemmeen roast ( ularth ) (prawns stir-fried with chili and coconut slivers), each bite reflects the region’s deep connection to the sea and its abundant tropical ingredients.
